Just minutes from the world renowned surfing centre Bells Beach, Great Ocean Road, Australia where a group of Australian surfers invented the <a href="http://www.madeforwalking.com.au/pages/what-is-an-ugg-boot">‘original ugly sheepskin boot’</a>. With typical Aussie ingenuity they developed a product to combat cold feet after winter surfing in one of Australia’s most famous and rugged surfing regions.</p>

<p><strong>What is Emu Australia:</strong><br />
Emu Australia is a luxury brand. A unique Australian owned lifestyle product company, that uses premium Australian sheepskin and the world class manufacturing technologies. Founded in 1994, Emu is recognised around the world for its tradition of offering the most comfortable shoes in the world; with products ranging from traditional sheepskin boots and slippers, to casual comfort slides and urban footwear.</p>
<p>As a privately owned Australian company, Emu has control of its operations from concept to shelf. This structure cuts out the middlemen and puts Emu in the position to build highest quality product. Almost all of the Emu products that we sell on Made For Walking are hand-made in Geelong, by industry professionals. The Merino Sheepskin is from sheep that are bred specifically for the amazing properties that they offer an Ugg Boot (antibacterial, moisture wicking, breathability and temperature control). They are reared in Geelong, on the most luscious Australian grass fields. Large fields that they can live happily on, because in our opinion, that makes the best, most environmentally friendly and humanely produced Ugg boot.</p>

<p><strong>What sets our Emu products Apart?:</strong><br />
1. Most of the styles are made in Australia by well-cared-for industry professionals. No sweat shops!</p>
<p>2. Made with Australian produced materials, which are treated according to strict environmental laws. Other producing countries don’t have these environmental restrictions. It is a lot more expensive to produce Ugg boots with an environmental attitude, but we think it matters.</p>
<p>3. Australian Merino will keep your feet warm in winter and cool in the summer!</p>
<p>4. Australian Merino sheepskin wicks away excess body moisture, keeping your feet dry and comfortable.</p>
<p>5. Sheepskin naturally breathes and keeps feet at body temperature. Cold wet feet become dry and warm in minutes!</p>
